ESSEX WINTER WARMER - WITH A VISIT TO THE COCOLATE LADY
The ideal day to keep your group warm and entertained in the colder months. An entertaining coach tour through beautiful Essex country villages, free time for lunch in Saffron Walden and in the afternoon a visit to the Chocolate Lady for tea, a talk and a demonstration of chocolate making. We’ve been taking groups to Julie for twenty five years now and she is always great fun.
Our guide will hop on your coach en route to glorious Thaxted to buy morning coffee at 10.30am. With its famous Guildhall, magnificent church and restored Windmill set against a backdrop of Mediaeval houses it is considered the jewel in the crown of Essex.
The vast church is evidence of a prosperity born of the weaving and cutlery trade. The composer Holst lived here, you’ll see his house. From high up in your coach, above the hedgerows, you’ll enjoy wonderful views as your Blue Badge Guide skilfully captures the essence of rural Essex.
For lunch we visit Saffron Walden. Few towns have retained their mediaeval street plan so well and there is a good choice of cafés and pubs. Market days are Tuesdays and Saturdays.
In the afternoon, we are off to see the Chocolate Lady in her farmhouse workshop. A cream tea will be served in the workshop and this is included in the tour price.
