The largest collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures ever to travel out of Egypt comes to London this winter. This will be the last visit for the world’s most famous archaeological finds before the  Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo  is completed.

Twelve thousand people visited the Tutankhamun exhibition at The O2 with us in 2007 and 2008. That show sold out. This show will also sell out very quickly. So you’ll need to act fast.

The show at The Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea runs from 2 November 2019 to 3 May 2020. Tutankhamun tickets need to be paid for at £21pp by mid June.

The remaining balance for Day Trips will fall one week before your Day Trip.

For SleepOvers separate terms apply.

Over 150 artifacts are coming to London, more than were shown at The O2 and more than at the original blockbuster show at the British Museum in 1972. Sixty objects in the new show have never left Egypt before, although like last time it won’t include the famous death mask which has been deemed too fragile to travel.

The discovery of the boy king’s tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter in an expedition financed by Lord Carnarvon of Highclere Castle stirred up ‘Egyptomania’ in England. The 3,300 year old Egyptian designs influenced the  art and architecture of the  Roaring Twenties.

We are offering an exciting choice of opportunities for your group to enjoy the Tutankhamun exhibition.

Tutankhamun & the Roaring Twenties

A City & Villages Tours Guided Day Trip

"Can you see anything?"

asked Lord Carnarvon as Carter opened

the tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.

 "Yes," replied Carter. "Wonderful things."

The discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb came at the start of the Roaring Twenties, following all the global upheavals of World War One. The new fangled mass media of newsreels, telephones and newspapers was able to bring news of objects being carried out of the tomb to a wider audience, faster than ever before. Tutankhamun gripped the public imagination and its cultural significance was unprecedented. The designs  of Ancient Egypt influenced the Art Deco style  and Tut Mania quickly found its way into everything from fashion, makeup & architecture to the cinema and the music hall.

Meet your top notch Blue Badge Tour Guide at the National Army Museum in Chelsea at 10.30am. This is a great group stop with coach drop right outside and a nice big cafe. Following time to buy morning refreshments we begin with the amazing story of adventurers and chancers scrabbling for treasure in the desert against  the backdrop of Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign.  Thus began the story of archaeology which would lead to the discovery of the world of a young boy king who lived more than 3,000 years ago.

We leave the Museum to drive through Kensington & Chelsea and turn the clocks back to the Roaring Twenties. We see where Howard Carter was born and where he died. Discover how the fashion for Tutankhamun and Ancient Egypt influenced everything from the first  Thomas Cook package tours to the Middle East to the novels of Agatha Christie - it’s an irresistible combination of high adventure, romance, and history.

We stop for free time for lunch on the fashionable Kings Road right by the Saatchi Gallery which means we can arrive there after lunch on foot. Your timed tickets are for a  2.30pm visit with no queuing.

Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh will transport your members to Ancient Egypt where they will accompany Tutankhamun on his journey to the afterlife and quest for immortality.  The exhibition is staged to celebrate the centenary of the tomb discovery. Over 150 stunning authentic tomb objects, 60 on display outside Egypt for the first time, showcase the spectacular artistry of the boy king’s 3,300-year-old treasure and will dazzle audiences of all ages. This is an absolute must-see cultural event and final opportunity to experience the magic and mystery of Tutankhamun before his treasures return to Egypt forever.
