WINTER IN WINDSOR - WITH WINDSOR CASTLE & THE FARM SHOP
During the winter, with fewer tourists around, extra rooms known as the Semi-State apartments are opened at Windsor Castle for visitors in the know. Enjoy this extended visit which includes a guided tour of St George’s Chapel in the castle grounds scene of two Royal weddings in 2018. We also take you on a guided tour of the Royal Landscape and visit the Windsor farm Shop where the Queen sells produce from the Royal Farms.
Meet the Blue Badge Guide at 10.30am in Windsor – if you have poor walkers we’ll get you good and close to the castle to save the long walk from the coach park. There will be time to buy morning refreshments beneath the castle walls before stepping inside the Queen’s favourite residence.
We start in St George’s Chapel where you sit to listen to our guide’s commentary introducing the castle. The State Apartments are hung with paintings from the Royal Collection - Rembrandt, Rubens, Canaletto and Gainsborough.
From October through to March you can also see George IV’s private rooms. Known as the Semi-State Apartments they include some of the most richly decorated castle interiors.
We are going to have free time for lunch in Windsor so you can spend as little or as long as you want in the castle before we meet to board the coach for an exhilarating look at the Royal landscape including taking in the views of the Castle from the Long Walk.
We round off a memorable day with a visit to the Windsor Farm Shop where HM sells produce from the Royal farms. Take home a treat embossed with the Royal crest and treat yourself to tea and cake in the café before heading home at 4.45pm.
