KENTISH CURIOS & CURLING                                                  3 days

This fun and fascinating new addition to our Three Day Collection is ideal for adventurous groups who like something a bit different.

We combine lunch and a private out-of-season Behind the Scenes tour with refreshments by the fireplace at Penshurst Place and a day out with a Blue Badge Guide discovering some Kentish Curios with the opportunity to try the sport of curling at England’s only curling rink. This unique new Three Day SleepOver is available Sunday to Tuesday from October to the end of March.

Sunday: Arrive at Penshurst Place at 1.00pm for a two-course hot lunch followed by a Behind the Scenes tour with the Head Housekeeper for a first hand look at the workings of a modern day Downton Abbey. The private house owned by Viscount De L’Isle is open today just for your group. Seasonal refreshments are served by the fireplace in the Baron’s Hall at the end of the tour.

Check in at the Rose & Crown in Tonbridge at 4.30pm with time to relax and settle in before dinner together in the evening.

Monday: A day of Kentish Curios with the Blue Badge Guide. We begin at an ancient country church with beautiful stained glass by the artist Marc Chagal and follow the upper Medway bank to bank, one minute Kentishmen the next Men of Kent. Includes a 2-course lunch in the mediaeval Pilgrim’s Hall and a tour of Aylesford Friary. Dinner together this evening back at the hotel.

Tuesday: After breakfast and check out the highlight of the trip – an introduction to the world of curling at England’s only curling rink. You’ll be fully kitted out with special 100% grip curling shoes to make sure you go curling not flying! And worry not - you don’t have to get right down on the ice if your knees and hips won’t allow for that anymore. There’s even extension poles to enable wheelchair and rollator users to join in. You’ll be given a fun beginners training session before a very entertaining tournament. Refreshments and a packed lunch are laid on. You’ll be ready to head home by 2pm after a really enjoyable morning full of discoveries and laughter. This is a trip your folk will be talking about for a long time to come!
